Volunteering
Yeah, yeah... we all have so much free time right now. (I know.) A few years ago, when I needed to do some class-mandated volunteering, I had no idea where to look. What places were looking for people? What would you actually be doing there? It's amazing experience, and sometimes organizations are only looking for a spare afternoon here or there. If you want opportunities, here they are! If you get an opportunity to do any community-related stuff with your students, here are some good places to start!

Volunteer postings from all areas and committment levels are posted here! Please note that they rarely seem to remove postings, so many can be dated, but usually if you call the organization they can give you the current openings.
Carmichael Outreach
The shelter and organization working with Regina's homeless, often those under 14 years old. Hosts many programs and services, and they are always looking for volunteers of any sort. Donations of any sort are welcome as well. Located at 1912 Osler Street. Volunteering information is located on the website, and appears to be a come-when-you-can sort of thing.
Cornwall Alternative School
They are always very excited to get volunteers in... even if you have a spare 20 minutes, they would love to have you come read with the kids.
Regina Early Learning Centre

Wascana Rehabilitation Center
This place is huge! With many different areas to cover, including working with children, they are always looking for volunteers. Click on the above link for contact information and volunteer requests.
Women's Support and Emergency Centers
There are several first-stage shelters, and one second-stage (SOFIA House), in Regina. I believe that all are continually seeking out volunteers, often to work with the children of mothers coming in.
